On the 22nd of October 2014, the Cyprus Human Resource Management Association (CyHRMA) in collaboration with the Careers Office of the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) organised an open lecture titled “Time Management Techniques”. The lecture was one of a series of lectures organized in the framework of the established collaboration between the CyHRMA and the CUT. The lecture took place at the University premises with great success and the participants were mainly University students, young graduates and unemployed people.
The lecture purpose was to provide participants with some useful tips on time management and planning, as well as how to set SMART goals.
The lecture speaker was Mrs. Monica Potsou, member of the CyHRMA and the Limassol and Paphos Coordination Committee. Mrs. Potsou started the presentation with a general introduction about time and its meaning, as well as the advantages from effective time management. Specifically, the participants were taken through the basic steps they should take in order to manage their time effectively.
Mrs. Potsou gave examples of different time wasters and the way these can affect our lives. Moreover, she analysed the SMART principle for setting goals and provided the participants with some useful tips on goal setting and planning.
Furthermore, the participants were provided with some useful tips on how to get prepared for a job interview and how to manage their time while job searching.
Conclusively, the participants had the opportunity to ask questions on various issues of their concern and a general discussion followed.
